GC Quad vs MEVO

GC Quad vs MEVO – TPC (Tournament Players Club) week is over. It was an awesome event. I got my cool new TPC swag on the exclusive stuff. You could only get in the players club, so pretty pumped about that, and congratulations to Rory McIlroy for his awesome victory.

GC Quad vs MEVO

So, over the weekend, I had a chance to visit a Bridgestone Ball fitting, and they tested me against my current ball which is a TP 5x against there, Bridgestone balls, to see if it would perform better for me, and what would be the best fit. Thankfully, I had my Mevo with me, and those guys were kind enough to let me hit it versus their GC quad launch monitor. And I’ve never used the GC quad before. So, this was pretty cool. I was excited to see how the Mevo would do against it.

First Shot

So, first shot we can see the ForeSight GC quad has a speed of 148 miles per hour, ball speed, and the Mevo has 149 miles an hour. So, the difference is only one mile an hour, pretty much exactly, the same carry distance to 39 on both units. So, again numbers are pretty much exactly the same.

Second Shot

The second shot ball speed is 152 miles an hour on GC Quad and 150 miles an hour on Mevo. Exactly the same carry distance 243 versus 243, again the numbers are exactly the same. Shot three, we have a 151 mile per hour ball speed on GC quad, and 152 miles an hour on Mevo. So, only one mile an hour difference. Carry distance 255 yards on GC quad, 247 on Mevo. So, we do have a difference there about 8 yards.

Third Shot

The shot was pretty solid, look, if you look at the spin 2749 is pretty good. So, it was a good hit. Mevo just not recording quite as much carry distance as GC quad. The shot for this was a terrible shot, and you can see the speeds are way down from the other shot. So, we got 143 miles an hour on GC quad, and 143 miles an hour on Mevo, both the same carry distance, 207 on GC quad and 218 on Mevo. Mevo was a little bit higher, but if you look at the spin 5050, that this was just a terrible shot. I don’t really blame Mevo for being that far off.

Final Words

I wouldn’t even care about this shot in real life, but you can see, there is a difference. I gotta tell you, I was pretty impressed with how the Mevo did versus the GC Quad. That’s a pretty expensive unit, they were saying was around $10,000. I know Rick shields use it to test. So, I was pretty excited to see how it did, and it did not disappoint. Some of those things were dead-on which was pretty awesome. I’d like more time with it, unfortunately, I didn’t have that much time. There was a lineup, and they were nice enough to let me in.
